Price Includes Postage to the UKThis is one of my commissioned paintings, the request was to achieve a joyful, loving atmosphere with a loving mother and baby elephant in harmony together. I am very happy to share this beautiful painting in the most harmonious colour combinations and composition, which was achieved working from two reference photos.
Elephants are matriarchal, meaning they live in female-led groups. The matriarch is usually the biggest and oldest. She presides over a multi-generational herd that includes other females and their young. Having a baby elephant is a serious commitment. Elephants have a longer pregnancy than any other mammal—almost 22 months. Female Elephants usually give birth to one calf every two to four years. At birth, elephants already weigh some 200 pounds and stand about three feet tall. The dedication and sincere love of the mother elephant to her calf was the bond I endeavoured to portray through this piece.
